I wrote my word quotas yesterday and today while sitting in a comfy chair at Panera, right under a speaker blaring Christmas music. I tried to move (even though the easy chairs are my sacred spot) and learned that every seat in Panera is under the speakers. I guess they’ve cranked up the stereo to get everyone in the holiday mood. Don’t they realize that for NaNoWriMo writers, the holiday season cannot begin — nothing can begin — until November ends and we turn in our 50,000-word novels?
That said, I’ve realized over this past month that my daily writing time has become the favorite part of my day. (And I’m not just saying that because I’m almost finished, either.) Alas, all the other tasks I’ve been disregarding for the past 29 days are now refusing to be ignored — they’re like little Glenn Closes in Fatal Attraction, stabbing at my good conscience. So it’s probably good that the crazily focused writing effort is coming to a close.
I’m at 48,601 words. Very nearly there!
